Here in the Boston DMA, our locals include three PBS stations, none of which have the HD feed available on D*. Boston is a pretty significant DMA, yet in the Springfield, MA DMA, which is much smaller, the PBS station there, WGBY, is broadcast in HD on D*. Considering HD has been on D* for quite some time, and Boston is a large DMA, why isn't WGBH, channel 2, a noted PBS affiliate, offered in HD??? I mean the Univision station, WUNI channel 27, is in HD on D* but not WGBH? And I thought D* had some sort of arrangement that required the HD feeds at some point. Does anyone have any info on when PBS HD might come to Boston???

I would contact the local PBS station and ask them about it.
Talk with the Chief Engineer.

why not get an AM-21 for the HD?

We just got ours a few weeks back on dish. Hope you get yours soon. :)

The AM21 does have the Boston PBS stations in its database. I find this so weird to have no HD PBS in Boston since WGBH is one of the most well-known PBS stations out there! Our PBS (UNC TV) is in HD on D* and we even have a subchannel on D*. I hope Boston gets PBS HD soon!

Thanks for the suggestions on the OTA tuner. I can receive WGBH in HD via my antenna if I orient in a different direction from where it normally faces (I like to watch Connecticut OTA TV so it faces southwest and not east towards Boston). My issue us why is it not offered as part of my HD locals on D*? My local Univision station and CW station are both in HD as part of my locals but not a powerful PBS? I just don't understand the thought process and just kind of expected at least one of three offered PBS stations to be in HD on D* like it is in several other cities nationwide.

Why certain stations aren't being carried can be a mystery! It's likely a money issue.
