Successful 5 sat hookup

I was able to successfully hookup 5 satellite after surfing this forum getting several ideas.

Here it is:
Dish 1000+ kit (110,118,119,129) to DPP44
Port 1- power inserter to 211k
Port 2- 211k
Port 3- 612-ran to DP21(sat 1 from 61.5 on DP dual/out 1)sat 2 out to tuner 1
Port 4- 612-ran to DP21(sat 1 from 61.5 on DP dual/out 2)sat 2 out to tuner 2

Check switch ran successfully for 5 sat locations on both tuners.

in most cases of the HD channels it defaults to 129 if there are multiple sats with the same programming

Its not like the old days when someone had a dish for 148 and one for 61.5 and the channels showed twice in the guide

Back when I had a 500+ and 61.5, my locals were on both 118 and 61.5. The choice of which satellite used was completely random. One day I would be on 118, and the next day 61.5. Go figure?

AFAIK, 5 is the maximum supported. The rumored 6-port switch had not been canceled as of last year, but it also hasn't appeared and I'm hard pressed to come up with a case for it beyond getting the 5th sat to 4 receivers and avoiding a cascade.

obviously you havent been around long enough.

in the past people competed to see who be the first to see a new slot go hot, who had the biggest dishes for greater rainfade resistance.

satellite tv can become like a virus, it takes over.

honestly I will miss the tech side. its been fun, 13 year hobby

one reason I can think of is if you subscribe to the multi-sports pack there are some RSN"s that are in HD and are ONLY on 61.5 or 129

also when 129 was that crappy Echo 5 folks used 61.5 for HD and used 129 if they absolutelly needed to (like when locals were on there)

Yes exactly...I didn't have an extra 500+ lnb...There are no duplicates of channels from 129/61.5 sats...I do have more 9000 series channels(classic arts and stuff like that).

Does Switch order matter??

Can the DP21 switches feed into 119 and 110 ports of the DDP44 so all receivers can get the 5 locations??

No, it can't be attached between the 44 and the dish. You must have a 21 for each receiver that you want 5 birds on.

61.5 is 7 degrees below the horizon here.. I wish they'd put something up in the 148 slot so Alaskans can stop aiming through trees.

148 is blocked by a hill here. I used to joke someone should buy and remove the hill turning flat spot into commercial space

hmm come to think of it, even with a sat in space 148, I'm still sitting on the top of the world
