Ok, so got some extra 48ct Single Mode (SM) going to run from back garage to house about 80 feet away. Going to hook 5 different birds from different lnb's up to just one fiber then break them back out to RG-6 behind my TV. Going to use 6-ct SM from basement to family room. Both enclosures mounted inside will splice in SC APC ends from pigtails.

Breaking it up into parts.

Part 1
Put the conduit underground 4 more feet in flower bed. Pull the cable 48ct cable into both areas.

That's my goal for today.

I'm curious...what advantages will this give you,Wallyhts?
Just looking to learn,thanks.

Being able to not have to run (5) RG-6 cables :) Just having fun really :)

The real advantage which I'm not having to use is the distance that fiber will allow that RG6/11 coax can't.

Part #1 halfway done fiber is pulled one hole drilled one more hole and bam.

Ah,ok.Cool.The short distance was making me wonder if I was missing something.Have fun.:hatsoff

Box is mounted had to leave an angle on pipe so the bend into garage would work.

I just looked up the cost of those Foxcom fiber optic transmitters and AL5R receiver. WOW! Great project, but I think I would install 5 RG/6 coax runs to save money. No update since last Sunday, what's taking so long? :)

I'm hoping to have time this weekend to do more work on this.

I got some BiDi SFP's also so I can run Gig between basement and back garage over just one fiber :)

Do you know where I can get some reliable 10 Gig SFPs? Equivalent to Cisco SFP-10G-LR?
Two of the Cisco's are about $12,000. I'm connecting two data centers across a city and want to
save some budget money if possible without sacrificing reliability if possible.

Wow that's crazy high.

Yes sir check out prolabs.com 10G about $1,200 each. (They don't sell direct) I have some deployed in our network right now.

That's cool to hear your doing some 10G links. You running some Cisco switches on each end? 6500 7000 etc... ?

Cisco Nexus 5548's on either end is the plan.
Redundant pair in the main data center now and need to purchase a single switch for the secondary data center.

I like this one better:

I just use cat6 stp for the main gigabyte runs in the house here... Of course I don't have anything I can use the bandwidth for other than within the LAN, interweb speeds here are less than a MB.
