Sports channels that carry university sports...the fact that costs will increase...feel free to ignore my posts
Anyway, as to the serious financial aspects of this, and the coming "name, image, and likeness" legislation (AKA pay the players) this is a very dark day for college sports.
USA Today keeps a good data base on this stuff. Fact is that while these colleges take in a lot of $$, the non-revenue sports (including women's sports dictated by Title IX) just turn around a spend it. There just is not this big pool of $$ out there. It is a myth.
USAT also keeps track of what it calls "allocated funds", which means the %age of the athletic budget that is either tax payer $$, student fee $$ or charging off capital expenses to the general budget. After a VERY few schools, less than 20, every school has allocated funds. Some upwards of 80% of the budget. And this is without paying the players. With state budgets stretched and college tuition still out of control, college sports will fall away at many places, and very soon.
As to TV, well, ESPN is about to get what it has always wanted. A 20 to 30 team AAA football league and a 50 to 75 team AAA basketball league. And be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it. Consider how many people really care about non top level professional competition.

I think you have never met the syracuse university basketball team..or attended a game in the multimillion dollar carrier dome...similar to other big time college sports universities...the smaller schools probably won't see any difference...just the big names you see on tv every saturday will be effected...as for other sports..you are correct..there will be a major negative effect on them..
Good. I think we’ll be better off for it. But I’m jaded. Ole Miss, while I was there, was WAY OVERBOARD on jock worship. There was a saying: “The school president is trying hard to develop a University the football team can be proud of.”
