Surge Protector between cable to Mini-Client?

Bought a new surge protector, concerned about the age of my old ones, it has a cable in/out connection.

Is it a good idea to run the cable to my mini-client through that or is that unnecessary and just creates another possible point of issue??

In fact, don't use ANY surge protection on any of your coax cables.

I don't know why the manufactures put them there. However if you have a claim they will use that to try to void your warranty.
