swapping out a box with new box using same AC

Advanced equipment(DVR & HD) create a 2 year commitment according to Directv's rules. Of course they can do what ever they want.

All of the swaps I have done with moving an EXISTING AC to a new piece of equipment have NOT put any of my customers into a new contract...

Recently, we helped a user on here (andreah1), only she added (as well as a swap) a DVR or 2 (she bought from a 3rd party), she was warned (by me and others, see [1]) about the possibility of a commitment, yet, according to her (see [2]) (and I have no reason to doubt her), she managed to do it without the commitment via retention. Point being, retention might be of help, as usual with D*, it will depend on your account standing, YMMV.
