Help, I have a problem with my Dish 500. On a regular basis the dish gets disconnected and losses signal, so we reconnect and try to get it up and running, but when we run the switch test is tells us no switch detected. Then we have to call a technician who charges $150 to come and push a few buttoms to get it working again. Anyone out there know what he's doing to reset, so I don't have to keep paying. We did ask him directly, but of course he said if he told us, then he would be out of business. I am sure someone out there can help.

Thanks,

If you keep having to do a check switch something is wrong with the cable, connectors or ground block. You can visually inspect the connections specially the ones outside to make sure there's not water inside.

As far as the buttons that the technician presses. It's probably just a check switch.

On the remote press Menu, 6, 1, 1, Check Switch.
