I am considering adding new service under the current promotion at a second residence. What is Dish Network's policy on 4 to 5 month annual account suspensions? Thanks in advance.

I'm not exactly sure if I'm going to answer your question, but.......

I sold my last house back in February, and didn't move into my current house until May (had to live with the in-laws a couple of months.....made it out alive....). When I moved out of the old house, I called up and was able to shut off my service indefinitely and keep my status as a current sub by paying a $9.95/month fee. They also waived the first month's fee, so I ended up paying like $20 total to keep my current sub status. This allowed me to get the DishMover, etc. with my current set-up (including DVR), rates, etc., free installation at the new house and all that jazz. If I would not have paid the $9.95/month, then I would have had to pay for all of that (apparently) as I technically wouldn't have been a "new" subscriber. "New" subscribers are ones that haven't been a Dish sub within the last 12 months, I believe.....

Not sure if that answers your question, but perhaps it does....

This all by memory, but I did the account suspension thing a year ago when I moved. I thought it was $5/mo for me, but I started in 11/05. The longest one can suspend their account is 6 months. I remember this cause I did mine from late Nov 2005 to early May 2006, so I was barely in the six month window. Fortunately our house was built on schedule.

When you come back, you keep the same programming deal you had before, or you can change it to whatever is currently being offered. If moving to another DMA, some mandatory changes may happen, such as: local stations, regional sport channel, or hard porn channels (some states/areas have laws against broadcasting porn).

If you are in the middle of a contract period, I do not know how/if suspension affects this (i.e. 6 mo. suspension counts towards my 2-year committment). I was not in a contract when I started the whole moving process.
