Terminated from DISH

So, let me get this straight. You never posted from work, right??
If that is the case, they have no reason to fire you because they can not say for sure it was you that made any of the posts. The only way to prove that it was you would be to subpoena the website logs to get your IP address and then trace it to your ISP with another subpoena to finally prove it was you. Unless Dish Network has partnered with MPAA or the RIAA, I doubt they could get away with it.

I say we turn the tables on them and see how they like it. Maybe Jim DeFranco will join the site soon and start posting topics like:

"That Betty in HR likes the variety of Porn channels I have added to Dish Network. What a hottie that Betty is, maybe I should make a channel just for her and call it "Betty's Hot Dish". :shocked

If you can't beat them, join them!!

OR SUE THEM!!

No way. What American company would do such a deplorable thing?

One of my IT guys said an old buddy of his was informed that his job was being move to India. The kicker was that he has to train the off shore worker that was taking his job.

I would tell them to shove it! Let them train him.

A number of years ago the wife was told that she was going to be transferred into a new job but she had to train her replacement. She did that and was told that she wa going to be transferred the next Monday. Monday came and she and a number of other folks were directed to a conference room, they were all told that they outsourced the IT operation and their services were no longer required, have a nice life. Sneaky a**holes!

I would have looked at my legal options if my company had told me that. That sucks rad. :(

Believe me we did, right to work state, lawyer said there wasn't anything to do since they didn't violate and laws with their actions. Anyway, probably the best thing that could have happened to her, got a much better job and a 3 month vacation.

The guy that made the outsourcing decision 'left the company to persue other interests' after the decided to bring the operation back in house since outsourcing didn't save them any money. He ended up getting a job that he outsourced the operation to.

I too got fired today.... Wonder if something is going on.. but they made up a compleatly diffrent excuse.. as to why i got fired... Something lame.. anyhow i know that uppermanagment knew that i posted freely here.. im just curious as if this was the true reson why i got fired and they was trying to cover everything up...... I think we all need to go to the arbitration service and file a lawsute as a group.. so who's in... let me know

Must be the day, where I work their in the process of letting 145 folks 'persure other interests' (not a DBS or cable company).

If he is positive HE is going to be fired afterward, he should just quit without training the new person.

Only if he knows that he wouldn't get any type of severance package. Also, wouldn't that wipe out any chance for unemployement since he quit on his own?

I'm shocked...SHOCKED!

Actually, that sort of bullship has been going on for some time now. They got us by the short hairs. It's either you're fired today, or you get fired in six months after training these pod people. Most people would choose the extra six months of income. It's kind of like an assassin training the assassin that will kill him.

What do you expect when the administration's top economic and labor people say in public that outsourcing is a good thing for the economy.

Not smart. He would lose 6 months of income, a possible severence package, and unemployment benefits, if necessary.

This way, he can use the time to search for a new job, while on the company's teat. And, if I was him, I'd take a stapler and some white-out on the way out the door, just for good measure.

I onder, though.
a. How did they know it was you?
b. Did you post secret Echostar info? (as opposed to basic public knowledge?)
c. Did you make any disparaging remarks about your employer?
d. Did you ever sign anything stating that you wouldn't discuss non-secret/public knowledge about Echostar in public forums?

If the answer to b,c, and d is "no", you just might have a little legal issue right there.

You sign an agreement when you go through the training and get the employee handbook. No legal battle, he will lose.

Well in some of his posts he said he was a D* customer, maybe E* cant handle one of there own being a customer to the competition  :D .

A very large portion of the employees are customers of the competition. You have to learn to watch what you say. Personally, I wouldn't want my stock price to drop because a pissed off employee said some things on a forum.

Maybe next time people will THINK before they VOTE. In this cabinet, everyones jobs are at risk to going out of the country. Tyco shipped thousands of jobs to Mexico, You call tech support for Microsoft and get India. :no

This has been happening for more than a decade, I don't like it either but its nothing new, just more news coverage about it. AND unemployment rates have held the same steady rate since around 1993 (6.7% and lower) also no big changes or news, just griping points most people won't check. I do always encourage people to vote no matter what.

I had an employer try to sneak this up my arse. He came in one day with a new guy and told me to train him for the position I was working and nothing more and started to take off. I called him out on it right there asking him if I was training my replacement. He looked like a damn deer caught in the headlights, mumbled well kinda. I told him he had two choices. Train this guy himself cause I was going home and he could reconsider his choice considering the amount of crap I knew he was doing (group home situation) or find someplace else for my "replacement." He opted to stick the guy someplace else. Ironic thing was this guy that was supposed to replace me ended up getting fired for abuse 3 months later and the boss was dead a year later litteraly eat up from head to toe with cancer. Karma is a ditch ain't it.

It does sound to me like all yall guys getting dropped need to get together in some sort of court action though. Again this is about as rediculous as saying what kind of beer a person has to drink while off the job when working at a competing beer manufacturer. Just another reason why I will find it hard to ever come back to Dish.
