I saw a commercial today on my local ABC channel 6 in Columbus, Ohio. The commercial was urging people to Text TV to 39179 to tell Washington to modernize decade old regulations that cause big Tech to make the local stations disappear.

Have others seen this commercial and what specifically are they worried about?

I found the following when searching the title:

Texting "TV" to 39179 is a call to action related to the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) campaign advocating for the modernization of broadcast regulations to support local television and radio stations.
Here's what you're likely doing when you send that text:
Supporting Local Broadcasting: You are showing your support for local TV and radio stations and their ability to compete in the current media landscape.
Advocating for Policy Change: This action is intended to communicate with elected officials, urging them to update broadcast regulations to better enable local stations to thrive.
Potentially Receiving Further Communication: By texting "TV" to 39179, you might be added to a contact list and could potentially receive updates or further calls to action related to this advocacy effort from the NAB.

It was interesting that the commercial was aired on WSYX channel 6 which is owned by Sinclair. I would consider Sinclair to be big tech.

Another Translation: Streaming is kicking our *****, need Advertisers to quit going to streaming services, higher per subscribers fees, so the average Cable/Satellite bill is $200 a month……so we need the Government to change the rules in our favor.
