The FTA Hookup , Who have you helped or encouraged.
After Successfully setting up your FTA system have you been able to encourage anyone else to go FTA.
If so, Who ? and did you help them setup ?

2 of my neighbors (one I helpes the other they did it). Showed a neighbor Globecast and she got it for her homeland channels. I installed it for her

I said yes to both under "friends" because I have helped a few members install their dish installations and honestly if we help someone here on the board getting their system working, wouldn't that qualify as "Friends and they did it themselves"?

Probably a bunch via e-mail. I know I get at least one e-mail per weekend asking about FTA and how they can get the feeds. I try and direct most of them to this website. I remember people asking about titantv too a few years ago. :) I still have yet to have a friend here in So Cal or a relative with c-band/fta or anything but cable, so I haven't helped anyone setup.

Everyone I tell about it seems content with "mainstream" tv. Seems that many folks around here are happier with illegal methods of obtaining free tv! Most can' t understand why I enjoy the hobby.

First, I show them mine then if they are interested and nearby I would be happy to help. Otherwise, I 'll recommend them to reputable stores and of course this forum !

i showed my father in-law some info about it back when i was learing about it before i ventured, ( he used to be into Ham radio, so a natural electronic & signal cross over) and needing yet another hobby to dabble in, he was off an running before you could blink an eye!!!!

I have written a couple of posts here and hopefully given some help.

I also have shown it to the 4-5 guys that come to my place for a Linux meeting once a month. They are the ones who actually helped me move my BUD and put it on the roof as you can see in my avitar.

The following month, I did an impromptu presentation on it at a different Linux meeting with about 10 people in attendance.

I followed that up with a link to this site in an email to everyone who was present.

So far, there are some questions, but no takers yet.

Well I have gotten family members excited, I told my uncle about FTA and what I'm watching and he asked me " Can I get this at Best Buy".
Nope but I'll give you a hand setting it up, he has yet to respond and my Aunt could be the reason.

A friend of the family is waiting for me to set her up in Miami, she's very interested but short on cash, so I told her how much it would cost on the cheap and I'm trying to accumulate some FTA stuff, all I need is a cheap Primestar and she's set.

Other people either don't have good LOS or are just not interested at all, or better yet, I'm such a FTA geek that I'm more excited than them to get them going.

My brother saw my FTA and asked how much it costs per month for programming, so now I have to try to get to his house (about 150 miles) to mount and aim the dish for him some day.

It's been a while since he got the system and I sort of feel bad telling him about all the cool stuff he's missing but I'll get down there one day and get him going.

I guess I must be waiting for cold, wet, windy weather. That's the best time to try to set up a roof mounted dish isn't it?

We help people with tech support online and over the phone on a daily basis. Even though we try to put the instructions and details online, but we still get questions on how to do this and that. :D

If we can make our online tech support section easier to follow, let us know. We will be happy to add more or clarify instructions if necessary.
