I did some research on this receiver and know that its not being made anymore!also reviews and comments on it seem pretty good.I have a sathawk 800 on order but would like another (cheap $$) receiver for a backup or another room in the house.I see that on Ebay i can get one new in the box less than $100 including shipping.Anyone else deal with ebay on buying this receiver and comment if you can on what you think of the NEUSAT 9000 HD .

Even if that receiver is given to you for FREE, don't get it. It will just take up valuable space in your house. Trust me.

I like the Neusat 6000 SP

I like the Neusat 6000SP and I did a lot of research on the 9000HD hoping it would have some of the same features as the 6000; But it is lacking in a lot of areas. If you are looking for a Cheap receiver with a good Blind Scan and it doesn't have to be HD then a 6000 is pretty nice. I wouldn't spend $100 bucks on the 9000 personally. Some people might like it and have good success with it but we couldn't even find a factory bin for it. If I had the money I would love to have another 6000 Neusat. It has one of the best blind scans I have seen when compairing it against receivers like Pansat. It has alot of things you can manually enter such as PID info..I am really very please with it

Im real new at this FTA stuff and untill a month or so ago i new squat about it.I do have a electronics background,ex ham operator so i do catch on quick. At the moment buying stuff that sets right up with the motorized dish and be a fairly easy start at catching fta broadcasts. The AZ box series seems like it would pic up just about any type of video/audio fta broadcast with many other goodies to boot.It may be just the thing for me after i get good at all that FTA satellite can offer!but right now going into the hobby blind it may not be a good move, but again!I know i will want something better that does more in the future.

Just to add to this, (probably don't want to hear it, lol) my recent experience with a Neusat HD9000 isn't very impressive to say the least. I saw that this box was over $400 bucks new back in '07 and now it's $89.99 shipped from eBay. Even when these were popular they were only used for one purpose, "HACKING" DN & Bev

It was only popular because of the price and one thing I learned is that you should never make a decision based on a hacker's review either pro or con. Some things can be considered but their position was different, they were not using it for FTA.

Although it's a damn good price for HDTV, it's not as good as the reviews claim. It has some bugs that were never fixed, it's flakey in channel changing (takes a few seconds to stabilize video) and the picture quality is poor compared to a quality receiver such as my Pansat 9200HD. It doesn't auto adjust the screen for sizing wide to std, some of the features won't work with the factory firmware, only with the hackware and even then it still has bugs. If you don't like dissapointments then spend a few extra bucks and buy quality. The Neusat 9K HD at this price is a good entry level box for somebody who doesn't emphasize on quality. This is my opinion so take your time and shop.

Thanks Mc!I have found out by now that no receiver out there will do it all!seems like all have have some kinda problems with them.So for now ill see what the sathawk and all its problems will do for me.I feel that it has potential to be a pretty good receiver if the developer continues to fixes its short comings.I also bought a USB receiver called the matchbox pro which i will use on my PC There were some others for the PC but me me it seems that Matchbox is the most user friendly i could find. The prof series seems like it has alot to offer but from what i have read so far about them! It has some bugs to be worked out before i consider such a unit!maybe when the 8000 series comes out it will be more user friendly with less problems.

stanleyjohn, looks like you're learning the right stuff, when shopping for a receiver, I myself look for the most reviews and the more popular models because I hate to be a guinea pig for buying something and finding out the hard way. It seems that the older models had less problems so when ever I find a new (older) model I will snag it if the price is right. I've been pretty lucky so far and have been able to resolve most of the problems with troublesome models. I wish all the best with your new equipment and hope it's an enjoyable experience. :D

Well I'll chime in, I have a Neusat 9000 I got off of Ebay, I like it, the color is GREAT, it does change channels fast, HD on it is stunning, there are things it will not do, you cannot enter PIDs manuoly, and there are some channels that for what ever reason it will not find, but it has found most all of the channels that I want to watch, for the price I can't say enough good about it, and I never did update the firmware, like I said I like it!

I use my 4Dtv to move the dish, 7.5' mesh, C and Ku band, I have a SonicView 360, SD only, that receiver will do blind scan, and manuel PID input, but I never use it anymore, I use my Neusat all the time, I also had a Pansat SD receiver before the SonicView, the color on the Neusat, bot HD and SD are better then the Pansat ever was, I hope this answers your question, if not ask more, I'll answer more.

OK!!! some of you seem to be dead on with the neusat 9000 and can now say I TOLD YOU SO. After a mixture of good and bad comments i invested $85 and bought a brand new one in the original box.Hooked it up!turned it on and all i get is four zeros on the display after booting and a blank tv screen showing nothing. Was going to use this as a second receiver to the Sat Hawk which finally shipped YEAH:up.I would like to still bring some life to this 9000 hd! Any suggestions? Is it possible firmware never loaded??.

Out of the box you will get a blank TV screen if you are using the RCA outputs. You have to use a HDMI cable to the HDTV in order to see the screen. If I'm correct, the factory firmware has a bug and the RCA composite output is dead and the only way to get it working is to load the hackware, convert it to Captain 8000HD. The Captain f/ware will then give you an option of switching outputs. This is what I learned from reading so don't hold me responsible, I'm only passing on the info so do your homework first, good luck.
