I suggest you call DirecTV back, and ask to speak to a cuistomer retention specialist. It is a well-known "secret" that you can get an HD receiver for $99 that way. Often, they will also throw in free Showtime and/or discounted HBO for a few months.

Tell them he is thinking of switching to Dish for their free HD receiver. I guarantee he'll get the $99 offer. They'll come and install a triple LNB dish for free, with that offer. 3 satellite positions from one dish with four outputs. Some locations even get a free OTA antenna!!!

Once you get the DirecTV deal, call SBC and have them pull that Dish crap out of your father's house.
