When I signed up for TWC the first time in April, 2010, they gave me a brand new Samsung DVR. The thing was wonderful, and packed full of features I liked and used.
Over the course of the next six months, TWC sent out multiple firmware updates that gradually brain damaged the box so that it worked just as poorly as their Scientific Atlanta models. Examples: They removed the favorites list and 30 second skip. They disabled external HD support. They removed aspect ratio switching.
I expect that whatever new stuff is on this box will be killed as well.
