How can I connect an OTA Tivo in an RV to the internet?
My understanding is that the Tivo wouldn't work right without an internet connection.

Use a cellphone as or get a hotspot to get guide info etc... would have to connect frequently though.

And any idea how much data consumption we're talking about?

Once a week is enough to have 7-10 days of accurate data and another 3-4 days of partial data. Can’t be specific but it’s not much data unless there is a software update

Data is usually available after noon central time each day and will load upon connection. Sometimes data isn’t available on weekends and it will just check the time server and disconnect.

In an rv situation I would try to connect on Wednesday evening or when going into a new area.

Can you cancel the software update on a Tivo?

Can you cancel the software update on a Tivo?

No, it downloads software updates when needed along with the guide data update. The receiver will show pending restart in the network settings instead of complete after a data download, if there is software to install. It will install it overnight unless forced to restart.
