Since swapping to the edge lit tv I decided to try leaving a small lamp on I have off in a corner during movies, as opposed to using a back light or dark room. After doing a little searching and found this nifty thing on Amazon

iSmartLED 4 Switchable LED Lighting Levels of 10W/7W/5W/3W

It works well and you can quickly switch from ten watts to three watts. I figure three watts is about a 35 watt bulb and it should be nice and dim. 10 watts is also where I like it for nighttime tv viewing.

I have a Lutron dimmer on my lights. My problem is finding LED lights that provide something even remotely close to the Halogen lights I have put back into my lighting cans.
