Sony handles Disney disc releases, they announced a while ago, no more slipcovers for 4K Discs here in the states, a example was last week, Moana 2 was only a steelbook, next Tuesday, the Lion King prequel is the same.

Both are about $42.

But in the UK and elsewhere, still doing slipcovers.

They sure know how to shoot themselves in the foot. I won't be buying. Will do digital, instead.

It is just economics, Physical Media sales were $1.2 Billion in 2023 here in the states, dropped to $900 Million in 2024.

In 2005, was over $15 Billion.

While I much prefer the higher bitrates of 4K discs, which provide a slightly better picture than some streaming services, but also, the so much improved sound quality vs streaming, the writing is on the wall, it is a dying format.

So why are they selling a dying media in a more expensive package?

Same reason the prices for Cable/Satellite are so high, to make up the lost revenue from those that have left.

Fandango is selling the digital version for $5.00...and you get what you don't pay for. Crushed blacks, too dark, grainy. I hope the Steelbook is better cause this could not have been remastered...just processed 4K like the early Indiana Jones are. Oh well, just a 5 spot!
