I've been waiting for this one to come out (June 1 according to Amazon):

Toshiba | 55SV670U: 54.6" diagonal 1080p HD LCD TV with FocaLight™ LED Backlighting and Local Dimming

It is the 55" with the LED backlight. MSRP $3k, amazon is already listing it at $2700.

That is half the price of the Sharp and 1/3 the price of the Sony XBR8.

Of course, it is all in the viewing, but I think this one has real promise.
