I'm getting a VIP 612 Shipped from E* to replace my Current VIP 612 that has become defective with a Hard drive Hiccup. (For my Tenant)
Is it Possible to transfer their recordings over to the new receiver? If so How?
The Tech isn't coming for a service call, Dish sent out one VIA UPS to my house. And I forgot to ask them. Thanks for the help.

If the Hard Drive is toast, it might be tough. - If it still works, I believe there is a way using Linux to get the programming off. I will see if I can find some info and get back to you.

The Hard drive isn't toast, Its Just defective at times, Sometimes its Fine, and records fine, But on Playback I get some random drop outs from time to time.

And No its not signal related ,Just to get that straight and out of the way for before that gets brought up. It never drops out in the same spot of the movie or show during playback. Its always random everytime.

Hookup a external drive to the current box and activate it by calling Dish (youll pay a one time fee of $40.00) transfer all your recordings to the external drive and when the new box arrives hook up the external drive (you wont have to pay again) and transfer the recordings to the box. I did this a week ago when I upgraded my 612 to a 722k.

I have one , But I'm not using it for my tenants DVR. I have 3 Dish accounts and that $40 fee is for each account not all of my accounts.
