Those directions are suitable for VIP DVRs, not Hoppers. On a Hopper, the transfer to external disk button is found via the Info button (on the 54 remote). I think it's Manage, select your recordings, and then Transfer to External. Or perhaps the recording selection comes first. I don't remember. I find the new Hopper GUI unintuitive.
