I recently moved in with a friend to save money as I'm 27 and haven't gotten my act together to get a career job. Anyway, he also has Dish Network, being that there is no need for 2 accounts, I want to move onto his account. I'd like to keep my 522 (which is leased) so I don't have to pay the upfront lease fee for another one. Is there a way to transfer my 522 to his account and keep it, while canceling my account?

I am not exactly sure if you can or not sorry. I knew if you were under contract you would not be able to but someone that knows more about how E*'s handles this situation can help you.

Can't happen. Simply because when you signed the lease you were assigned as the responsible party for the 522 receiver. You can't transfer a leased receiver from one account to another account whether you have a commitment or not. If you want to have a 522 at the new place your best bet may be to see if your friend can participate in the Dishin' It Up promotion for a 522. Unfortunately that will put your friend's account under an 18 month commitment so I'm not sure if he'd go for that.

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll have to break out my old OWNED 508, wanted 2 tuners but guess I can't do it.

You could always move your account and cancel the other account if it has no commitment. Then you could use the 522 and 508 and the receivers on the other account if they are owned. I just did that cause they wouldnt let me transfer an 811 from mine to another because it was leased.
