I have 2 rcvrs. Inside the house rcvr works fine. Rcvr on the deck gets pixalation on local channels. Both rcvrs are on the same single lnb with dual outputs.
When the deck tv acts up the inside tv is fine. Never a problem.
I have tried switching the cable feeds to the deck rcvr.
Changed cable from rcvr to tv.
Switched out the lnb.
Switched the rvcr from inside to the deck tv.
I even tried switching out the tv.
None of the above has cured my problem.
Signal strength on transponder 4 is 38 on the deck tv. 51 on the inside tv.
Signal strength on 12 is 95.
I can see both tv's from one location. When the deck tv acts up the inside tv is fine. Both tv's are on the same channel.
Any ideas on what I should check next.

Thanks for your time.

Well if TPS 4 is "seen" in your area (not sure which SAT you are talking about) then the posted signal level is way low.

Maybe you can post some additional details

Charper thank you for the reply.
satellite 101 (A)
signal strength readings...
1-8 72,58,70,43,69,89,68,86
9-16 68,58,66,93,68,92,67,91
17-24 68,0,67,92,66,94,69,91
25-32 63,0,62,95,66,91,64,88

p.s. we do get tsp 4 in our area.
today signal strength is 42 on tsp 4.

The spot beams on 101 are 4, 12, 18, 20, 26, and 28. And as stated these can be zero, low or high if it is your local spot beam. However, with those low readings on the other TPs, your dish needs to be re0aligned. It also looks like the odd TPs are the problem.

thanks JD for the confirmation; that is what I suspect and as for one unit showing pixelation while the other does not may simply be a case of "tolerance" or how on setup deals with that versus the other?

tp 4 has always been very very low

you might check the length of the line run ... maybe try an amp ...

Unless you are in (or near) an area where a spotbeam transponder is used for local stations, it should be low (or even zero). That by itself is nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the help.
I'll give it a shot with aligning the dish.
Which TP should I use for max signal?
In the past I always used 12.

david

p.s. cable run is about 50 feet.

Cable run length is not the issue, your fine with that.

Defanately a alignment problem as ALL your numbers are low, on the 101 12 is always higher than others.

You mean TP 12, don't you ?

What do you think? TP 2 or 12 ? This is what I go by and my pics speak for themselves.

See attachments.

I can post more of my tuning pics.

I'm curious on how you get such high values for ALL spot beams?

Back when I just had the 18" round dish for 101, I'd tune in the lowest TP (not spot beam like 12) and tweak it as high as I could.

I usually use TP 12 to find the signal and then work from there.
12 is normally easy to get 100 on the 101 from where I'm at.

I don't know if location means anything with this, but I have never had that many 100's either.

On a clear day I can usually get 5-6 100's.
All my numbers on the 101 are 93 and up with 4 100's, but it's been raining off and on all day.

However, he had 16 TP with 100 ....

your signals should mostly be in the mid to high 90's

repoint your dish...

Thanks for all the info.
The setup is at my summer home. We will be up there this weekend and I will let you know what happens.
David

p.s.
hope I can get signal strengths such as SA holly springs.

Update.
This site is great. It was dish alignment and LOS. Had some tree branches WAY up there in the way.
Trimmed the branches, aimed the dish and all is well.
Thanks to everyone that reponded.
David

cool. glad it was something simple

we had to do the same thing at the lakehouse...trees had grown in the way
