Tuner ???

When a recording is setup and a program is being recorded and a user (Hopper or Joey) wants to watch the same program being recorded it uses two separate tuners instead of defaulting to the same tuner.

I moved things around and fixed things for my wife, by moving my son to the same tuner that the program was recording.

But the system should by smart enough to conserve tuners instead of wasting.

I have a 2H/4J system, and it wasn't a primetime channel being recorded. The Hopper mentioned was the Hopper with PTA activated using one tuner for PTA.

Any new word about improved Hopper integration, like sharing tuners between hoppers...Just checking !!!

Most Dish receivers will use another tuner unless you go to the recording first. The receivers are smart, but not that smart yet.
