Type of Dish Receiver to use?

Hello, I'm new to FTA Channels. I have an Direct Tv Receiver Box and I will like to know can I use this Receiver box with an different satellite dish to pick up some Free-To-Air channels? And if I can where can I found where to point the dish? I live in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Sorry no DirecTV receivers can be used for FTA! As they do not use MPEG2!

You will also need at least a 30" dish and KU LNBF (As well as a FTA receiver of course)

DTV box will only get you DTV channels you sub to, no matter what dish you point it at.
