Updating satellite names

How is everyone doing?
A buddy of mine ask me this question a couple of days ago.
If you have an old FTA STB and want the updated names of the satellites, how can it be done.I did't know the answere to his question,so I thought that I would ask you guys.

Honestly it depends on the box.

Most receivers have a menu option to edit the satellite names. Each receiver is different as to how you do it.

If your buddy's receiver is compatible with the channel editing program called ChannelMaster, then let CM do the work. You upload the channel list to your computer, edit it, and load it back. My Coolsat 5000, Pansat 1500, Fortec Ultra all are supported by CM. Sadly the 9200 is not

Best thing is to let us know what receiver model it is. Then we can give you a better answer.

Thanks for the quick reply Iceberg.
He is using the Coolsat 4000.

If all he wants to do is change the satellite names select
"dish setup" from the install menu. Go to the satellite he wants to rename (make sure the satellite name is where the arrows are) and press the red button. That allows you to edit a satellite name

no problem. I do it all the time on the Coolsat 5000 (swap satellite names)
