I presently have a 625 & 4900 with a Dish 500 system (located south of Louisville, KY). I am considering upgrading to the 722, but I still want to keep the 4900 operational. Later down the road if I want to add a 2nd dual tuner receiver, which dish should I have. I would like to make sure that the dish is somewhat "future" proof. If I decide to replace the 4900 with my present 625, will the dvr fee apply to both the 722 & 625?

If I understand your plans correctly, the Dish 1000.2 would most likely take care of your present and future plans. It provides 3 outputs capable of dual tuners on each or any combination thereof . . . but if you are planning to have a 4th receiver at some point you will need to add a DPP44 switch.

And unless you are on the Everything Pak, you will pay the DVR fee for each of the DVR's . . . 722 and 625. :)

Yes get a dish 1000.2. It will get 129 for HD and if you need 61.5 instead you can hook it up to the dish 1000.2 as well. Will provide legacy support for your 4900 and support up to 6 tuners. You can find them on ebay for less than $90.

When checking with Dish, I was told that I would have the Dish 1000 installed in place of the Dish 500...

If I decide to go with 2 dual tuner receivers, will the Dish 1000 work? Is the Dish 1000.2 larger than the 1000? The present dish is mounted on the chimney, so I don't a monster hanging there.
How much larger are they than my present 500?

The dish 1000 is not much bigger than the D500, just oval shaped. The 1000.2 is maybe a few inches bigger. None of them are heavier than one another by a few pounds. No struts, etc, are needed, not that heavy. The dish 1000 will support up to 4 tuners where the 1000.2 will support 6. Dish 1000 is capable of 3 orbitals and the 1000.2 4.

I'm in kind of the same situation. I have Dish 500 with 311 receiver.
I want to add another receiver with DVR, so am thinking of going with 722.
would this work on Dish 500 if I don't want the HD yet....
