I've had some problems recently where my GeoSatPro MicroHD would change the names of several recordings to match a previous one. When I connected the hard drive to my MacBook it could see them with their correct names.
So I ran Kodi (formerly XBMC), added the folder to the video list and it could see the recordings, even play them. Fast forward, rewind, bookmark, resume. The only thing I needed to make sure was that A) they are viewed by List (Big List actually) and B) sorted by Name so they play in correct order - both options were on a flyout on the left side in the list view of files.
