Does anybody knows if the US directv will work down in south america?
I am planning to take my HD receiver and antenna to my mom's place and activate it in my account, but would like to know if somebody has the experience and or knowledge if this would work fine.

I remember i was told that a south american directv would not work here and it really does as I tried it myslef and it works.

So please, reply only if you DO know the answer.

I appreciate your help.

Ignoring the fact that DirecTV U.S. is not licensed to deliver TV in South America, the satellite signal does not reach that far. Some people in the Caribbean and in northern parts of Mexico and Central America manage to receive some DirecTV using separate, very large dishes, but that's all.
