I recently moved and I brought my directv H24 with me. The new place has a SL 5 already connected and wired. I hook my box up the same way I did at the old house minus the SWM but I get no signal. Surely I need to do something else but I'm not sure what?

Directv wants to charge me 300 to come out and hook up everything:mad:

I did change the settings on the box to sl5 and multiswitch.

Thanks for the help.

Well I assumed the signal was good because the previous owner was using dtv just before I moved in, but I am getting all 0's

:welcome to Satelliteguys zdoubleu!

Did you connect a bbc in line?

Are you assuming its an SL5 and not a SWM5?

I assumed it's not a swm since he seemed to know what a swm is. IF it's not a swm, then he wouldn't get any signals on 99 or 103 without a bbc. He should get signals on 101 regardless. IF it's a swm, he shouldn't be using it without a power inserter.

I have no personal experience with this, but I have read other posts where they say that you have to reboot the receiver a number of times to get it to convert from a SWM to standard configuration. My son-in-law just had the reverse issue. He used the mover program to transfer his standard setup to a SWM that was already installed in the new place. The installer tried several times to get his HR23 to see the SWM with no success. He installed a new HR24 instead. Son-in-law was really bummed to lose all his recordings.

So, do not give up until you have rebooted at least five times.

It's not a swm I checked. Will I receive no signal without a bbc? Those are cheap they are worth a shot. Or should I be receiving at least something from one of the satellites ?

if you dont have BBC's hooked up you should at least get the standard definition channels from 101

A 771A error means the HR24 isn't communicating correctly with the lnb. It could be a bad or loose cable, poorly attached connector, a bad lnb.

A little advice for cancelling or changing an existing order.

HR34 and Slingbox Pro-HD
