Right now I am using io digital cable's Scientific Atlanta 8300HD dvr box. I plan on, however, getting a new dvr with more capabilities very soon, but to do this, i need to figure out if there's a way to take out the hard drive of this box & put it in the new dvr. I'm aware this would violate the lease of my dvr, but I'm going to ask you disregard this. I just need a technical way to do this because this requires knowing what other dvr's will work with the hard drive of my old dvr. So that is basically my question: is it possible for me to put my old hard drive into a new dvr..& if it is, which dvr will be able to accept this hard drive, seeing as they need to be capable with each other.

thank you very much.

Are you trying to do this to copy over your saved programs?
It won't work. They are encrypted and will only work on the DVR the drive was attached to.

Should I quit installing and just Sell?
