I am all for dumping contracts and subsidies IF they lower our monthly plans accordingly to compensate for the lack of the subsidy for the phone.

No. It doesn't start until January 1st. It said that in the article.

Those that purchased before Jan 1st or on a 20 month cycle for this handset, then a 24 month cycle thereafter?

I'm liking the financing option better, except they aren't lowering the rate any for that.

I don't know that for sure they just said it starts Jan 1st 2014.

Pretty much, yes. Now they'll stay the same to subsidize increased profits!

I don't know that for sure they just said it starts Jan 1st 2014.

If that changes retroactively, it would be a material change to the contract. Which might allow anyone under contract to walk without penalty.
