Hi all, I have been out of the FTA loop for quite awhile and I am curious how things have changed the last year or two.
I have a Viewsat Xtreme box and DN LNBF -Dual, I am curious as to what programming is available with this setup, what bird I can get stations on etc. If i need another setup to get programming please let me know. I am in the eastern US and can hit most of the southern birds.
I don't know if I still have to get Keys like i used to or what the protocol is. Any help is much appreciated!:D
Happy Holidays!!!

I would start by reading this...

If you want genuine FTA, you'll need a linear LNBF and at least a 30" dish.

Yes, Genuine FTA im not looking to Hack anything, I probably could use a few more details though.
Lets start with the Receiver, Will this work still? Is there anything i need to actually program on it besides the FREQ, LOs ETC?
LNB- I'm guessing in need LO of 10750 for all Ku birds correct?
Last but least what birds would you recommend? Are most people stationary or are they using a motorized dish?

Viewsat will work, you'll want L.O. 10750 for a standard Ku LNBF or 9750/10600 for a universal Ku LNBF. Not sure if the Viewsat has blind scan, but I think it does.

Some good Ku-Band birds are 125W for PBS, 101W for History and Biography channels, 97W for tons of ethnic channels, 83W for RTV, and 30W for tons of interesting programming and new release movies from Cuba.

First thing you need to do is a factory default and then load the factory bin to the receiver and then go from there,if you have'nt already!
