I have been getting error message #788 on a ViP722 with WD 500GB HD lately that reads as follows:
“The attached external USD storage device is currently configured for use with another Dish Network receiver external DVR archive devices may only be used with one receiver at a time.

Would you like to update the USB storage device to allow this Dish Network receiver to access its contents:
Yes, Cancel, NO”

I have not made any equipment changes.
The WD EHD has always worked & I lasted archived last week OK.

What will happen if I you press "YES"? Does it reformat the EHD or mealy reconnect to it without losing recorded programs?

You can get a hit of the authorization and it does not stop recording on any receiver and does NOT require a reboot that the CSR may ask for and wastes your time. You can check in Menu-1-3 (diagnostics) and several page downs for the household key, which will change and will be the same of each 622/722 except one of mine differs by 2 in the hex number.

Ppl got this many times and posted the question.
Call Dish - ask re-hit for EHD feature.

I forgot to include that Dish did a re hit for EHD twice & that did not work.
Rebooting did not work
