ViP and Digital OTA

In my last on line chat with tech support about my lack of OTA guide data, I was told they would let engineering know about it and if it was not resolved in 2 weeks to check back.

I guess it is time to check back....

Has anyone ever successfully resolved this type of issue? No guide date for OTA even when you have it for the Dish Locals?

Send an email to dishquality AT echostar DOT com.

I did when my local PBS station went digital and two days later the guide was corrected and I even received an email response letting me know...

Ok, let me start by first defending myself a bit and saying - i don't post much on satelliteguys.us, so don't beat me up if this has already been discussed in another thread somewhere in the hundreds of threads i've been looking through for this answer. So I thought I might try here. If you know of another thread that has already answered this, please post back with it's link.

I've owned my 722 receiver for about 6 months now, and JUST got around to hooking up an OTA. Dish Ntwrk doesn't offer ANY HD locals in my area via Satellite. I was met greif when I found out that I can only get the DVR to record one program at a time off the OTA, a.k.a. - I can't set something to record at 7pm on ABC and 7pm on NBC OTA.

Is there anyway around this, in the settings or anything? Or additional equipment? My goal is to be able to watch ALL of my primetime major network programs (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX) via DVR. (I work late every night and am NEVER home when my favorite primetime programs come on). Any ideas?

The problem is that the 722 has only one OTA tuner, so of course it can record only one OTA program at a time. If and when Dish offers HD locals in your area, then you could record 3 at once. If you need to record 4 OTA programs at once right now, you are going to need more hardware. You might consider the 722k, which has an extra cost tuner module with 2 OTA tuners, or the DTVPal DVR, which also has 2 OTA tuners and has no monthly fee, or ATSC PC tuner cards also with no monthly fee, or some combination of the above totaling 4 tuners.

Ask for DVR Advantage. You'll pay no DVR fee (for one DVR receiver) and it'll include your locals with programming info both for locals through Dish and any OTA you can pick up. With the DVR fee included, the locals will only cost you a buck and change. Manual timers are a PITA. JMHO.

the DVR advantage doesn't seem like much of a deal. It's $44.99/mo. I currently have bronze w/ locals @ $39.99 add DVR fee = $45.57.

Do they only charge you for 1 dvr under that plan? If not, it doesn't seem worth it as they said it required a commitment when I asked about it.

Please let me know, thanks.

I feel your pain....

I am in Charlottesville, too, and despite what the installer and tech support said, it just does not work here....
