I have a VIP222K upstairs with the TV1 output connected to the TV there. The TV2 signal is back fed into my home cable wiring so I can watch TV downstairs. Once or twice a week the 222 just starts ignoring the TV2 remote. I can take the remote upstairs into the same room as the 222 and it still doesn't receive the remote signal. I have to open the front panel and press the "system info" button, then the remote starts working again. I don't know what is causing it to happen but it is annoying to have to walk upstairs and press the button every few days. Any ideas? It is not a battery issue, I tried that.

Probably getting some kind of UHF interferrence. One solution might be to get a 3-4' piece of coaxial cable and a barrel connection. Remove the remote antenna off of the back of the rcvr and connect the coaxial cable on there instead. Then connect the antenna back onto the other end of the cable with the barrel connection.

At that point, try and get the antenna as far away from your entertainment center as you can. I have to put mine on top of the center.

If that doesn't work, they can try and backfeed the remote antenna in the same manner as the TV signal for TV2 and thus put the antenna in the same room as the TV2. That is a little more complicated and might take a tech coming out.

or I can tell you how if you really want too.

I do have the antenna connected to a 6' coax cable and stretched as far from the entertainment center as it will go. The remote works fine most of the time. When it stops working I can take the remote into the same room as the antenna and it still won't respond to the signal until I press the system info button.

open the system info screen on tv1 press and hold the sat button on remote 2 until all the lights light up, then release and sat should stay lit. then change the address to something between 1 and 16 press pound key after entering the address number. then press the record button to sync it, and test again
