I just had the 622 installed about a week ago and I noticed that there is a significant(5-10 secs) delay between the time you power up the 622 to getting a actual picture. Is this normal? With a HD cable recvr it was almost instantaneous.

This is because it is buffering up video on the hard drive this way you can pause live TV. All DVR's are like this.

When you say power up what do you mean? Come out of standby or turn on?

Yep, I guess you're right Pepper, the only other thing I was thinking was something with a TV "handshake". I just can't imagine someone complaining about the time coming out of standby. When people move from cable to satellite I often see complaints about the delay between channel changes, but whatever.

5-10 seconds is actually not bad at all. Receivers are like a computer, it takes a few seconds to boot up and go.

That's exactly my question. Just wanted to be sure this was normal. I;ve had DirectV DVR's for years and that wasn;t the case. And yes, cable DVR's are all most instant when powered on.

Yes this is pretty much normal don't sweat it.
