VIP722 tuner: QAM capable?

Hi All,

My E* installer is here right now doing his thing. It looks like he's trying to connect my cable (which i'm keeping for basic/locals) into the OTA tuner on the 722. I did see him select "cable" from a dropdown.

Is this going to work? Will the tuner pick up the unencrypted QAM channels, or will it only work with OTA ATSC?

No QAM tuner in the 722. It only has an ATSC tuner.

You're not going to pick up digital cable through that. Isn't the OTA input just in ATSC so no analog cable either, right?

No. Qbox will not see cable qam channels. It only supports feeds from "dish" head-ends.

What kind of details are you looking for? Do you have specific questions?

I can get pics, but it'll have to wait a day or so.

This is done to determine what band will be used to send the RF signal to TV2. It has nothing to do with reception.
