voom and basic cable used together....

when you cant get locals ota. i live about 70 mi fr the ota tower in a lowlying area. i've been told that my chances of getting the networks ota are slim to none. i am considering getting basic cable to get the networks and voom for the hd and everything else. can i run the cable signal through the voom reciever so that i dont have to switch inputs on the tv? anybody else using a set up like this? your opinions are apprciated. thanks in advance.
