[VOOM] OTA Scanning

How is this done? I can find the hide function, but it sounds like I
should be able to scan through and see what hits. I was installed
about 3 months ago, have the 6.10.

Go into the installers menu and first choose the tune antenna option
and enter an RF that gives you the best reception.

Then scan the channels. You will see the channels show up on the
screen as the hits are found. When complete, press the green button
to store and save the channels.

I am at work, so can't confirm, but "tune antenna" was not an option
on the service menu for me. On a different subject, the box locked
up when I attempted a report back.

Smata, the menu is "installation wizard", the first menu of 4 in the installers menu section.
This should lead you to a number of options- 2 of which allowing local channel scanning.

hey Ken : )

After noting the rf of the station I no longer get since the 6.10
changeover (The WB rf=40 and signal strength is 99!)
I put that number into the aim antenna function but nothing seems to
change what's happening.
The problem is that scan locks in 18 channels at between 97-99
strength across the entire spectrum and it doen't seem to matter what
rf I put in (I don't understand rf too well)
Anyway,
This is a one-directional long range yagi with a preamp that used to
reach strictly north out to the purple zone. It now has channels
north, west and south at 97-99 strength but since yesterday morning,
a
lot of the stations the came in now say--no signal received.

voom cust service didn't know the answer but obviously it's a mapping
issue. (map says 24) I don't get it (???) It is not a signal
strength problem, it seems to be an antenna power problem such as now
that the antenna is receiving channels in a radius instead of a
straight line in one direction the power range is in the 30's.
In the installation wizard after setting antenna aim and channel scan
the next on the check list is "Activate Box" We need an installers
number to do that but I wonder if that final step is needed to lock
in
all the newly scanned channels. Customer service didn't know but
thought it was an interesting question. : D

It appears that the reception quality is up on all the channels. Is
this a numbers game or is reception actually better? Also, please
explain the use of the RF number. Is this to aim antenna?

[VOOM] Re: OTA Scanning

my current system status is: sat strength-96
ota strength-99
sat signal power/SNR= 73/15.00(+-)
ota signal power/SNR= 82/31.00-33.00
authorized status= SWO

ota 20 channels found between rf 29 thru 59
rf 59 strength is 99; rf 60-69 strength= zero
locked antenna aim at rf 59 baltimore channel 11 nbc (red zone)
The WB channel at 40rf (baltimore-violet zone) (strength 99) is in
program guide and we used to get it but since version 6.10 it says no
signal received.
Tried locking rf at 40 (WB in purple zone) but had no effect,
changing
antenna aim in general seems to not matter.
Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks,
Charli
