[VOOM] remote problem

My remote works fine until I hit the VOOM button. Before then, all buttons
work as they should and you can see the light on the voom stb indicating a
remote button has been pressed.

As soon as you hit the VOOM button, the buttons stop working for the voom
stb, though they still control the tv fine (volume, tv input, power).

I've done a soft reset on the stb and replaced batteries. I'm not sure
what else to try. Any ideas?

/Sean

Re: [VOOM] remote problem

Have you got a spare remote? if not, I'll bet a VOOM CSR can arrange to
send you one without the dreaded service call....

Bruce,

Sounds like a good idea if Sean has another VOOM STB. Sean, if you
don't you might try a hard reboot by unplugging the STB for a min. or
so. Or you might call a VOOM CSR and check with them. Maybe this is
a "known" problem and they know the answer. If not, while you have
them on the line do as Bruce suggests and have them send you a new remote.

Watching HDTV most of the time (had a few brief dropouts) under "Heavy
Rain" according to NOAA and our eyes in Seattle, Gill

VOOM sent me a replacement remote Fed Ex overnight, that was over a
year ago though the day after my install. Not sure if the procedure
is different now.

Re: [VOOM] remote problem

See if there is a reset button inside the battery compartment or somewhere to reset the remote. It sounds like the TV button is being activated when you push the VOOM button. So push the sat button to make the other voom buttons active.

Note this seems to be an intermittent problem. It happened Saturday night
and then again last night, but each time it has gone away on its own, after
I had tried various things to no avail (soft cycle of stb, new batteries).

I'll call Voom later when I have some time to see if it's a known issue or not.

Thanks Roger. I appreciate the thorough packing job!
I will get yours out tomorrow. It's below zero here today so I am not
likely to go anywhere. I'll send details ASAP.

"Slightly" off topic but can you believe these New York Staters--a
little "cold" below zero weather and they don't leave the house. Now
out here in Seattle on the edge of the frontier we're "suffering" in
54 degree weather. (Well, we do have a little more water than we'd
like right now.)

Enjoy your day back there, Bruce!

However, still watching HDTV in light rain in Seattle, Gill
