Wilt,

I'm having Voom installed on this Saturday the 26th. I live in
Deltona, FL 32725, just east of Orlando. As you well know, we have
thunderstorms almost every evening this time of year. I have been
keeping up with this group and the one at Hometheaterspot, and have
seen where several people in Florida and other places, have gotten
the 30" dish installed and it made all the differance during the
storms. I called Voom today and asked to have a 30 installed instead
of the 18, at first he said they didn't use 30" dishes, then he put
me on hold and came back and said that they were only using 30"
dishes in certain test markets, and that I was not eligible for one.
The reason that I'm so concerned it the wife factor. She was
against this from the get go, she is very concerned with losing
signal during one of these storms. I sold her on Voom in part,
because of the HD, cheaper than what we pay for cable, and thirdly
because of the no contract offer, so that we could cancel if we
started losing signal. I was just hoping that you could help me get
it right the first time. If you can do anything for me, or you have
any advise, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Randy

Likely a 24", they were right about the 30" test stuff.
I've escalated this.

I live in N.E. Orlando also (Casselberry) and have lost signal for 4-5 hours each night the last couple of weeks during prime time. Storms move fast but some lingering showers (light to moderate) with still no reception or constant break ups. Tonight , lost signal for about 2 1/2 hours. Dish was peaked by installer at 90SQ. Makes it impossible to use the service during normal prime time viewing time.
The OTA signal on most stations are viewable during this time but cut in/out sometimes. I can understand losing siganl during big T-Storms but 4-5 hours is rediculous. D* signal is only out for 5-20 minutes in a big storm, never in light to moderate rain.
Central Florida should have been a "Test Area" Where we're know to be the T-Storm and Lightning capital.
Sticking it out for now, hoping the upgraded dish in the future will fix this but don't know how long i can go without reception in prime time.
Paying a lot of money for something i can't use.

Need to get a larger dish. I have a 24" and do not lose the signal except
with the big ones. Brevard.

Tried to get the bigger dish when i signed up, but voOm wouldn't give it to me. Would rather get the 30" dish that they will be swapping out with addition of the other sat in Oct. instead of getting a 24" now and another 30" before Oct again. Seems a waste to make 2 trips. That's to say if they would even give me a bigger dish which has been asked for before. Not holding my breath. :)

Ditto!!!! I am in Polk county. Same problems for about a week...
