Hey guys...

Today we have ordered a brand new server! The specs are slightly better then what we have now and the best part is our cost is going down by about $70 a month!

First off we are staying with our current ISP, we have been happy with them!

Our ISP is running a special on the server we currently have, plus this server comes with stuff that we are currently paying extra for (such as a second hard drive for backup) however in order to take advantage of of this new pricing we need to move off our old server onto the new server.

Here are the specs on the new server

Dual Xeon 2.4 GHz Processors (Running in HyperThreaded Mode)
Two 80GB Hard Drives (second used for backups)
1536 MB Ram (This is an upgrade we currently have 1024mb of RAM)
100 Mbps Uplink
Private V-LAN (This should take care of most of the DOS errors we have been having)
RedHat 9.0
Cpanel with Fantastico

With the increased memory I am told by the Vbulletin guys we should see a nice speed increase on the forums.

For the most part moving to the new server should almost seemless, since we will still have our current server plus we now have our new server we can transfer our DNS info and then slowly move stuff from one server to another.

We will have until the end of the month to move to our new server. :)

Any questions about this move just ask. :D

Thank you to our pub members for making SatelliteGuys possible!

I remember once upon a time when I ordered a motherboard with memory. I had ordered 4x256k simms (1 meg total) and they mistakenly put in 1x1M (4 megs total). At the time it was a $500 mistake.

Now 1.5GBs of memory is common and adds a few extra dollars a month.

Sigh.
