We found out from our E* rep today that E* has been approved to put a bird at the 117 degree location, although I haven't had time to look any info up on the web. Rainbow 1 maybe?

What do you guys think?

P.S. This is a very reliable source that told us.

I believe the 117 W location is a Ka band slot for E*. E* has licenses for a bunch of Ka band slots including 113 W which they are testing currently using AMC-15. What is of more immediate interest besides the Rainbow-1 acquisition for E*, is their FCC application to move one of their unused older DBS satellites to 129 W to use a Canadian DBS slot similar to DirecTV's use of the 72.5 W Canadian DBS slot. E* has the same thing in the works for 77 W which is a Mexican DBS slot.
