Long time subscriber. I'd prefer not to ask for retention right from the start. I seem to recall, the last time I did this, I got transferred to "Loyalty". Took 10 minutes, with no hassle, and worked nicely.

Your point being? It's to my advantage not being under contract if they know it, isn't it?

Not if they do not know you know you are not under contract. By asking it can be inferred you are thinking of switching, by answering they now know you that you are aware you are not under contract.

Just got $63.00 credit for the next 3 months, then $30.00 a month for the next 18. Was also offered season ticket for $100.00 but turned that down.

Called Friday as I am no longer under contract. Nicest customer service rep I've talked to in a long time. Had a pleasant 10 minute conversation. $50 off each month for 12 months. NFL Sunday ticket for free.

Been a customer since 2004. My package went up to $99 a month last month, so I called and they offered me $40 off a month and the NFL Sunday ticket for $100

Call, and tell them "blah blah blah" offered you a good deal and that you'rethinking about cancelling. The department you want to be transferred to is "retention"

people with many boxes or the 24 dollar a month dvr fee get better deals, but anyone out of contract can get something.
