From the eBay equipment find section...
With the hackers starting to be shut off, good Free To Air Equipment has started making its way to EBAY cheap!
I've searched eBay over and over again, and NONE of this stuff, is any cheaper than it was when the eye-patch crowd could still use them! There must still be a serious demand for these receivers.... (rant off)

I agree with you completely.
In fact I shut off access to the eBay area, and don't bother myself with it.
Just a frustrating waste of time.
The only good deals I've seen reported, come from Craig's list, yard sales, pawn shops, Goodwill stores, etc.

For any of you who've found something good, congratulations.

Now that the eye-patched guys have found a way to keep on stealing, they aren't giving away their once tought obsolete receivers... so until dish finishes their MPEG-4 migration maybe they'll get rid of their receivers for good. But by then maybe the OpenBox S9 will be just one of the cheapest receivers LOL, even now it's really cheap, considering the rest of the options (about 180 dlls shipped in the US).

all the ebay dealers are professional hoarders that get them from Kijiji/Craigslist/yard sales
cut out the middleman. look in your local Kijiji/Craigslist/yard sales. Bookmark searches for FTA, Pansat, satellite, Coolsat etc and store in a folder. Then select "Open in all tabs" every day. Be patient and you'll find a few deals. I got my 1m dish for 20 bucks this way.
Plus you can inspect the stuff first and don't get ripped of for overinflated shipping

I wish I would find FTA gear at yard sales and thrift stores. The only gear that turns up in those places here on a consistent basis are D* and E* boxes. Well, there is the occasional analog receiver from the 80s or 90s, but rarely if ever something really useful.

I did find a cheap DCC (Digital Compact Cassette, remember that?) deck during my latest thrift store rounds. :D

I didn't know that Dish was hacked again. I thought it was locked down.

I have found new receivers for $35-50 for the cheapest ones so they can be had for pretty cheap.

Dish hasn't been hacked again. But card sharing still works, until Dish gets the servers shut down.

I picked up 3 Pansat 2700's for $40 delivered a couple weeks ago. There's a buy it now currently on a cs81000 for $75 ( certainly a fair deal ), and I bought 3 Sonicview SV4000's for $37 delivered a couple months ago. One the flip side, I just picked up 3 very nice OTA antennas off of Freecycle, for free, yesterday. There are bargains available everywhere, but there are also plenty of non-bargains. You have to check regularly, and be prepared to pull the trigger if you seen something. [edit] CS8100 sold for $65, on a Best Offer [/edit]

I bought a Coosat 6000 premium for $36 delivered to my P.O. Box. I just last week picked up a Coosat 7100 for $22.76 delivered! Both from ebay and both work flawlessly. The deals are there you just gotta sneak up on 'em LOL!

I agree totally here! We have lots of thrift/secondhand/goodwill type stores and flea markets here, and I found ONE FTA receiver at the flea market. My trusty Pansat 2500a. It was my first one about 4 or 5 years ago. Still have it but I paid $65 for it..... thought it was a little high but they're STILL selling for around that much now. Hundreds of useless D* and E* boxes though.

Those are good deals... :D:up

I can totally understand what he's saying about not many good deals on e-bay though. I've found some better deals on other sites using Google. Makes me wanna buy them and sell them back to e-bay. :P
