What is a superdish

My install tech said I should not have my signal strength meter set to superdish but to dish 500 to read signal strength. According to him a super dish is an old dish that is not used anymore and the 1000 is not a superdish.
Just curious as to what he was talking abought.

It got 110 and 119 plus either 105 or 121, usually for locals depending on where you are in the country. Once the locals were moved there wasn't much need for them.
