An few examples of common modulations used:

Radio: "AM" (Amplitude Modulation) and "FM" (Frequency Modulation).
Digital OTA TV: "8VSB" (8 level Vestigial SideBand).
Digital Cable TV: "64 QAM" (64 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) or "256 QAM" (256 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation).
Satellites: "QPSK" (Quadrature Phase Shift Keying), "8PSK" (8 level Phase Shift Keying), and some other.

QPSK = Quaduatre Phase Shift Keying

It is a modulation technique used by satellite providers.

Also, Digital Broadcast Microwave use QSPK. This included ENG (News Vans) and STL (Station-to-transmitter Link) . We use Microwave QSPK to get from the studio to transmitter to use
8VSB to broadcast the digital signal.
