What is the best dish to use for the western Arc? (110/119/129)

I have a tech coming out to upgrade my dish 500 to one that gets 110/119/129.

What is the best dish for this 1000.2 or 1000.3 or ???

It sort of depends where you live. If you're in the sweet spot, 1000.2 will do fine. I'm in IL, have a 1000.2, and get very good signal strengths from all satellites. Toward the edges of the footprint, one can do a little better with 2 dishes, one for 110 and 119 and another for 129. Some even use an oversized dish for 129. Since the current 129 satellite is a bit wobbly and due to be replaced at the start of the new year or so, it's only a short-term problem.

I'm just north of you in South San Francisco and have a 1000.2. I'm currently using a D500 for 129 because I get 5-10 higher signal with a dedicated dish for 129.

Hum...that is a good idea as I have D500 pointed at 61.5...I could have the repoint the dish at 129 and just keep my other D500 as it is.

Are you getting locals on 129? Otherwise, there isn't much use to repointing from 61.5 to 129. They both have the same national HD content.

Our HD locals are on 119 so 129 would be just for national HD.

I have a DPP44 switch so I just run a cable from the D500 pointed at 129 to the switch and 2 cables from the D1000.2 for 119 and 110. If you don't have a switch, you could run a cable from the D500 to the SAT INPUT in the 1000.2. But you need to cover the 129 eye with aluminum foil on the 1000.2 dish and run check switch.

Since I have DPP44 I had the tech install another dish 500 just for 129.
The only thing on 129 that I dont already get from 61.5 is CSNBA-HD.

So it all worked it.
