What is the best way to connect a new iMac to Dish

Want to connect a new iMac to Dish--which is better to get the VIP 922 (I have the 622) or get an Elegato EyeTV HD? They are each $200. HM

Why connect an iMac to Dish? You won't be able to record onto the computer.

why not? you can record anything you can get out of a modulator or component cables.

receiver still does tuning but picture and sound can come from iMac just like PC

if iMac can record video/audio in then it can record.


no need for new receiver. 622 will work just fine. it has the outputs to do the job just fine. if I read the specs right you will need the Elegato EyeTV HD either way.

Yes, you're quite right. I was thinking digital, forgetting the analog "hole" which is supposedly to be closed. One day "soon?"
