When do channels drop the “HD” Designation.

There are still a BUNCH of Channels carried by DirecTV that are NOT carried in HD.

I thought DirecTV promised all Carried channels via DirecTV would be HD before now.

Hey, DirecTV how about carrying NasaTV in HD.

They never promised that. It is all dictated by carriage contracts

So I was going through my guide this evening and every channel has “HD” at the end of the name.

It’s 2019 and assumed everything is HD.

I think it’s at the point we should be designating channels “SD” and call the HD channels by their regular names.

Not every channel that is HD has the "HD" on the end of it... Eleven Sports, ESPN Goal Line, all of the Epix Channels, MTV Live, Shorts TV, JBS, that Scientology Channel, probably a couple others... all are HD but do not have "HD" in the short name on the guide.

The channel itself or what the cable or satellite company provides?

Sent from my SM-G950U using the SatelliteGuys app!

I'd say the channel itself. That way you know what it's supposed to be thus you'll know if your provider is fudging with it...

Speaking of which. Some channels lately I've been noticing a lot of interlacing on. But I think it's a problem at the channel because it's just the TV show and not the commercials. King of Queens on TBS I think it was. Also looks kinda washed out, pale, lack of vividness.
